Getting the Consensus
1. Pick any Stock: Enter its ticker and click "OK".
2a. Contribute to the Consensus by entering your Forecasts: Click "OK" or
2b. Click on the Green Arrow (your 12 months Forecast will be 5% above the existing Consensus) or
2c. Click on the Red Arrow (your 12 months Forecast will be 5% below the existing Consensus).
3. Review the new Consensus Targets.
A few Rules
Min or Max: A minimum and a maximum boundary is set for every stock. This rule prevents irrational data entries.
Extremes: The average calculation to build a target may automatically corrected for extreme data entries.
Data entries considered as too extreme (or pathological in statistical terms) will automatically be eliminated.
Repeated Entries: The system rejects data entries that are made twice during a 15 minutes period. This
prevents any given user to influence a stock too much.
Number of Entries: The system hinders a same user to enter more than 12 entries par day on the same stock.
How the Average Target is Calculated
The calculation performed for determining a target is more than just an arythmetic average.
First, the data is purged of the extreme data entries, in order not to allow irrational entries to influence the realistic entries.
Second, the latest entries have a bit more weight than the older entries. The weight of a data entry decreases with time, to the advantage of newer entries.
